Schaus Swallowtail (D10)

100.00

The Schaus Swallowtail is an endangered butterfly found only in a few areas in southern Florida. Only around 1000 Schaus Swallowtails are estimated to exist. This piece is about the butterfly's struggle to survive due to habitat loss, and other detrimental human activities.

I made this butterfly for a large installation titled, "Asunder". Each butterfly is editioned to eight, and each is hand painted with a unique mixed media background.

Materials: Relief print on Kuzo paper, acrylic, graphite, colored pencil, found image on Baltic birch panel.
